Epicor and Universidad Regiomontana Align to Promote IT Technology Expertise and Epicor-Specific Solutions
Global Software Vendor Invests in the Development of Future Professionals in the Field of Information Technology Engineering
MONTERREY, Mexico — Epicor Software Corporation (NASDAQ: EPIC), a leading provider of enterprise business software solutions for the midmarket and divisions of the Global 1000, today will inaugurate the Epicor GET (Global Engineering Team) program in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, a joint venture with the Universidad Regiomontana (Regiomontana University). Created in association with the University, Epicor GET is designed to further the education of information technology professionals by providing real-world experience with developing, operating and implementing business solutions aimed at high growth industry vertical markets.
Located on the University campus, Epicor GET will be a human talent development center designed to produce experienced professionals prepared to join information technology (IT) companies after graduating. “We believe this program will bring important benefits to the University, Epicor, young professionals and to the local IT industry as whole,” said Alejandro Benavides, director of operations for Epicor in Latin America. “Together, we will help produce better trained professionals for the local market.”
This project forges a relationship between Epicor and the Universidad Regiomontana, two entities dedicated to increasing the technical knowledge and experience of future software engineers. Students will be trained and exposed to business applications and development tools based on global state-of-the-art information technologies created by Epicor. Not only will students graduate with expertise on the technical aspects of software, but they will also have functional knowledge of the different industries for which Epicor develops software solutions – industries which are compatible with the types of business that predominate in Monterrey and Mexico, such as manufacturers, professional services, and distributors – as well as significant experience with the development and implementation of Epicor-specific solutions for each of these vertical markets.
Established in 2000, Epicor has its own development and technical support center located in Monterrey, employing over 150 people today. Epicor developers will oversee the Epicor GET program, giving students the opportunity to interact and exchange ideas with working IT professionals.
Attending the Epicor GET inauguration are John Hiraoka, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Epicor, along with a group of executives from the company, all visiting Monterrey with the aim of strengthening constructive relationships with educational institutions, governments, and the business sector the company serves. During the event, they will be received by Rodrigo Guerra, Rector of the Universidad Regiomontana, and other authorities as well as Alejandro Benavides, director of operations for Epicor in Latin America.
