Oracle Education Foundation Leverages Adobe Software Donation To Benefit Students Around The Globe

Adobe's Gift Will Help Increase Impact and Reach of the Foundation's ThinkQuest Program

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. - The Oracle Education Foundation, a philanthropic non-profit organization funded by Oracle, today announced that Adobe Systems Incorporated will donate creative software to the Foundation's ThinkQuest program. This gift will aid the Foundation in its mission to help students worldwide develop collaboration and technology skills.
ThinkQuest, one of the programs that the Oracle Education Foundation sponsors, has been embraced by educators worldwide as an effective way to engage students in online collaborative learning. Students who participate in ThinkQuest's Web site development competition build skills in Web publishing, research, writing, teamwork, critical thinking, problem solving, and project management. All qualifying Web sites are published in the popular ThinkQuest Library, a rich online resource visited by millions monthly.

"By teaming up with Adobe, we can provide Web development software to students who have not previously had access to these tools. This will help to level the playing field for ThinkQuest competition participants," said Clare Dolan, Vice President of Oracle Education Initiatives. "Equally important, Adobe's generous gift will help us to expand the ThinkQuest program. The availability of Adobe software will attract new students who might have shied away from ThinkQuest out of concern that they couldn't be competitive. That's a thrilling prospect, because now these students will have the opportunity to gain experience with Adobe tools that have tremendous real-world relevance."

"Adobe is dedicated to supporting teaching and learning experiences that engage and inspire students," said Michelle Mann, Group Manager Corporate Affairs and Community Relations at Adobe. "The ThinkQuest program is a great opportunity for us to work together to prepare students with learning and digital communication skills needed for school, careers and life."

The Adobe gift will include over 5,100 copies and licenses for the company's industry-leading software for web development and design, including Adobe(r) Photoshop(r) Elements, Adobe Premiere(r) Elements, Macromedia(r) Dreamweaver(r) from Adobe, and Macromedia Flash Basic from Adobe.
